Hey mate, you won't need anything uber powerful, mid range stuff should see you right. Maybe look at an i5 or fast i3 and mid range graphics card. For all your MAME stuff you'll be using your CPU and the Sega and PSX stuff will rely a bit more on your graphics card.

My main cab runs Core2Duo E6800 and an ATi X1950 Pro and has no issues with anything. Even when the gear was current it was by no means cutting edge.

We're here to help so ask away if you have more questions :)

How do you guys connect some speakers up, via the onboard speaker or you use a 2.0/2.1 speaker setup and plug it in through the headphone jacks on the motherboard?

Yep, usually plug some cheap amplified pc speakers into the motherboard headphone jack.

I actually have a set of non amplified ones stiiting in the marquee of my lowboy, and they are plenty loud.

^^What he said

It all depends on your cab and what sort of sound you're after as well. Mine has a 2.1 setup as it doubles as a jukebox but the lowboy and cocktails I had only ever had $20 Logitech jobbies inside and they were perfect for reproducing arcade sounds.

When you say headphine jack I'm guessing you're referring to the green audio plug on the motherboard - cos that's the best one to use.
