Hi all,

I have some questions and random ideas, so I thought I may as well start a new thread on it.

My girlfriend asked me to make her something for Xmas instead of buying her something. I know she is a Mario nut - got dolls, toys , DS games & whatnot, so I thought I might make her a Mario cabinet.

I'm waiting for Danny to get back from his trip to find out if any of the xx in one boards have Mario games on them.

Wondering how many buttons to use, and if they need joysticks?

Also tossing up whether to go full-size or smaller cab

Any ideas would be gratefully received!

a bartop like the jukebox you made would be good. portable enough to put away or move to another room.

Good idea Heathy.
Does she have an ipad? You could make an arcade housing for that if there are some Mario emulators available that run on it.

Sounds like a good project Frosty!

I know Super Mario Bros is on MAME, not sure about others. Of course there is always the NES or SNES emulators which would have the games you want. Wow, I can't think of the name of the game where Mario is running around... but you know the one, I'm thinking 3 buttons would do the trick?

Yeah, I was hoping to get an all in one etc so I didn't have to set up another PC-based arcade (getting a little sick of setting them up & the cost of parts), but it may have to come to MAME in the end :(

Frosty, what about a scaled down Donkey Kong cab and cut the bottom off to make a bartop? I reckon that'd look awesome

Hmmm, I have an old xbox 1 - maybe that would do the trick :)
