Well, it had to start sooner or later and have finally started buying a few parts for this build. This will be a long and drawn out process to say the least but still gathering as much info and history about this landmark and a trip to the site in 2 weeks to get some preliminary photos so I can best replicate it as accurately as possible.

The colours I've chosen will consist of mainly Tan, Dark Red, Light Bluish Grey and Dark Green. I've chosen these colours due to being readily available with the exception of Dark Green which is only a small count anyway. Construction will be modular and overall size is yet to be determined but speculate somewhere around 1.5 -2 mtr's long and .7 mtr's wide but may go wider if I use the original plans drawn back in the day which never got constructed. Construction in this first phase will be the building itself. Creating the right scale will be a small headache but will start on the main entrance area first and build around that size for the rest.

Later on, I may consider creating the platforms but will concentrate moreso on Trams and frontage additions before diving into the rail yard area. Have to stock up on some Emeral night sets I think.

Part count is also yet to be determined but so far sourced around 4000 parts which to the eye look like hardly making a dent which tells me it could be well over 50,000, maybe even 100,000 bricks due to many of them being smaller, more intricate parts. Won't know this for a little while yet but depending on how decorative I can go, will also add to the parts list.

Pictures will follow in due course but any photos or history on this landmark will indeed help my cause in bringing it to life.

Stay tuned over the next 18 months or so.....

Our company re tiled Flinders street station, platforms and all a few years ago. Will check the office today if we still have the scale drawings, I remember the whole station was drawn (in plan view) and would really be handy for what you are doing Soda.

Fingers crossed as this stuff gets chucked out after a certain amount of time has passed.

Also try to get some night pics if you can - the colours vary greatly between daylight & streetlight

Cheers Dlude! That would be sweet if you can get that sort of info. Very handy indeed...

Can't beat a scale plan drawing! Will definitely take out alot of guesswork for sure.

I've got a few night shots in there Frosty but with a limited colour range to choose from in the yellows and reds, I found tan to be the closest as the yellow bricks looked too yellow and unrealistic. The reds however, I could have gone Reddish Brown but that colour leans more towards a brown than a red and Dark red was a pretty close match, although not perfect.

If only Lego had a yellowish/Tan brick, I'd be set for sure...:(

Most of the pics I have are from that History forum you linked me to a few weeks back btw... Still need more though. Will have to do some google searching I think.

WOW! Thanks Frosty!

Some really great shots in there mate! You had some great closeups on the front corner and the rear of the building which tells me I need to stock up on alot more dark red bricks than anticipated.

All of your closeups gave alot more detail on how best to utilise different bricks better and the front shopping area was good to get a better view of.

Outstanding work mate...love it!

Outstanding work by Dlude and his collection also....

All I can say is...WTF!...lol
